Anita Saarkessian
Anita Sarkeesian has been a Canadian and American feminist media analyst for more than twenty years. She's also a seasoned public speaking. Feminist Frequency hosts videos, commentary and analyses of the way in which popular culture portrays women. Anita Sarkeesian a Canadian American media critic. Feminist Frequency investigates how women are depicted in pop culture. She is committed to deconstructing stereotypes about women and how they are portrayed in popular media. Furthermore she has a mission to increase awareness of online harassment directed at women, and other those who are marginalized. Sarkeesian also holds a York University master's in social theological, philosophical and political thought. Apart from being an acclaimed public speaker, she has given speeches at the TEDxWomen conference and the United Nations Broadband Working Group. She was fascinated by feminist issues, gender and gender equality since a young age. When she graduated in 2009, in university, she created the Feminist Frequency website. In 2009, the determined young woman was slammed on the internet for her website series on gender in videogames. She was not deterred by the harassment, the fact is that it only bolstered her determination to be an expert on media and feminism. She has won several awards for her contributions to the cause of feminism. Anita Sarkeesian, a media critic, has been awarded several awards and founded Feminist Frequency, an educational organization that focuses on the way women are depicted in media narratives.
