Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the merits of family sports academic scholarship with community service. First family, he's the youngest of nine children of Lucious and Jessie Selmon raised on a farm at Eufala, Oklahoma. The Selmons were also among the three siblings to represent Oklahoma in football. The three brothers were all All-Americans. The year was 1973. Lucious Jr. Dewey and Lee Roy were starters. Lee Roy won the Outland and Lombardi Awards as the nation's best lineman. Over the course of his three years as an offensive lineman, Oklahoma was 32-1-1 and secured two national championships. In 1975, he received his third scholarship and was recognized as an National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon earned his qualification in the field of education. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during the college. In Tampa, he played for the Buccaneers nine seasons and became an all-pro. Additionally, he started a career in the field of business. In 1988, he joined the ranks of an account representative for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He was also involved with these associations: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982 The Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized Lee Roy as one of the 10 of America's most outstanding young males. Lee Roy was 6'2" tall and weighed 265lbs when playing in the college football league. As of 1975, Lee Roy was the captain of the team. He became associate director of Athletics at the University of South Florida, in 1993. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1988. He was also named to the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994 the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award Mr. Lucious Sr. Henry Bellmon, the governor of Oklahoma gave it to them.
